Account Strategist
Description
The Account Strategist reports directly to the Director of Growth and Strategy and plays a key role in managing zu.com’s client relationships. Focused on retention, growth, and long-term value, the Account Strategist is responsible for nurturing and expanding client accounts by ensuring our work aligns with and contributes to each client’s business goals and KPIs. This role combines strategic thinking with relationship management. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful listener, a proactive problem-solver, and a trusted advisor who can identify growth opportunities, pitch new ideas, and advocate for the client internally at zu.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of client accounts and build deep, trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
- Act as the voice of the client within zu—ensuring that all work aligns with their strategic goals and delivers meaningful impact.
- Identify opportunities to expand account value through new projects, services, or strategic initiatives.
- Actively contribute to revenue growth across your client portfolio by spotting and pursuing upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Lead strategic discussions and planning sessions with clients to understand business needs and position zu solutions effectively.
- Collaborate with internal teams—particularly Project Managers and Product Owners—to ensure service delivery excellence and account satisfaction.
- Write strategic briefs, proposals, and presentations that clearly articulate value and opportunities for account growth.
- Monitor account performance, including KPIs and project outcomes, to evaluate success and guide ongoing improvements.
- Attend client meetings, internal planning sessions, and industry events to stay informed and represent zu professionally.
- Contribute to estimation and scoping efforts for new projects in collaboration with delivery and design teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience managing strategic client accounts within a digital agency, consulting firm, or professional services environment.
- Proven track record of growing account value through project expansion and strategic consultation.
- Strong listening and analytical skills with the ability to translate client needs into actionable strategies.
- Confident presenter and communicator—able to lead discussions and craft compelling narratives.
- Deep understanding of digital services including experience design, web development, and web applications.
- Comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams and balancing client priorities with internal realities.
- Excellent writing and documentation skills—proposals, briefs, decks, and client communications.
- Proficient with Apple iWork tools (Pages, Keynote), Google Sheets, Docs, and Hubspot platforms.
